Ending Life With No Hope

Pukaar-Community-Blog-10

I looked at my wrist and saw my artery thrashing violently as if it wanted to escape my body that was full of despair. I could hear the blood gushing loudly inside it, fighting to break the entrapment of my depressing body to flow freely in the outer world. It was impossible to resist the urge of cutting this pounding artery and taking my own life. I couldn’t handle it anymore! I was on the verge of giving up. Darkness had enveloped me and no matter wherever I went, I became the victim of malevolent hunters who constantly criticized me, humiliated me, mocked me and looked down upon me. I couldn’t stand their judgmental gazes and piercing words anymore! I had to end my life at all costs! I had the right to live freely in heaven, distant from all of the world’s negativity. Hence, it was absolutely necessary for me to end my life.

But alas! What will happen if I die? No one will even care. These malevolent hunters will simply find another victim to criticize. My absence would mean nothing. In fact, these critics would cherish my death. NOW I would not let them succeed anymore. I have to life for my own self so I will muster up the courage to face the world, no matter how hard it may seem. I will rise up from the ashes and shine like a bright diamond that can never be broken down under any pressure. In fact, I would help others to overcome suicidal ideation as well.

Millions of people commit suicide every year as they cannot face the harsh realities of the hostile world around them. All of us should unite and work towards solving this grave issue so that everyone feels that they are being loved and valued. Therefore I urge all of you to take a few steps that would make this world a better place to live in for everybody. Here are some tips for all of you:

  • Never take Other People’s Feelings Lightly: What may seem ordinary to you may be a matter of life and death for others. Hence, never take other people’s feelings lightly or laugh them off as a joke. If they seem low or are talking about death, you should always take them seriously and make them understand the importance of their life.
  • Become a Good Listener: Sometimes sharing your inner most feelings with another person is all the therapy that one needs. A lot of people commit suicide because they feel that they cannot share their feelings with anyone else. They undergo severe emotional pain and believe that no one is present to hear them out. Therefore, cultivate the habit of listening to others as it would make them realize that you understand and care for them. So you could become a life savior by just listening to others. Cool! Isn’t it?
  • Encourage Professional Help: If someone is feeling depressed or thinking about committing suicide but you think that you cannot help them in any way, don’t leave them alone. Remember, they are thinking of suicide in the first place because they are feeling lonely. Hence, encourage them to seek professional help. Tell them that psychological health as similar to physical illness and just like you seek a doctor’s help for physical ailments, it is necessary to seek the help of a psychiatrist or a psychologist for mental health as well.

Practicing these minute steps that may seem useless on the face of it, but they could drastically change someone’s life and you may never know it but you could become a life savior! Just look around yourself for a while: Do you see someone who is feeling low and you don’t know how to help them? Are you yourself on the verge of giving up on your life?
